The short version

ToolShore Music does not have accounts, does not ask for your name or email address, and does not record or upload what you play. The tuner uses your microphone only when you press its button, and the sound is analyzed on your device. The site may show advertising, which can involve cookies set by advertising companies. The details are below.

Who we are

ToolShore Music is a section of ToolShore, at toolshore.com, and is run by the ToolShore site owner. You can reach us through the contact page.

What we do not collect

  • We do not ask you to create an account or sign in.
  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or location through the instruments.
  • We do not record, store or upload the music you play, the patterns you build or the files you export. The WAV file made by the music maker is created on your device and downloaded to it.

The microphone (tuner)

The tuner page asks your browser for permission to use the microphone only after you press Start microphone. The audio is analyzed in your browser to find the pitch. It is not recorded, saved or sent to us or to anyone else. The microphone stops when you press Stop, switch to another tab or leave the page. You can withdraw permission at any time in your browser's site settings.

Information stored on your device

The site stores one small item in your browser's local storage, named ts-theme, to remember whether you chose the light or dark theme. It stays on your device, is not sent to us, and you can remove it by clearing site data in your browser. The site works without it.

Information our server receives

Like every website, our hosting provider's server receives basic technical information when your browser loads a page, such as your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser and device type. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and find faults. Server logs are kept by the hosting provider under its own policies and retention periods.

Third-party services

  • Google Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google servers, which receive your IP address and browser details. See the Google Fonts privacy information on Google's website.
  • ToolShore main site. The logo and the social sharing image are loaded from toolshore.com, so requests for them reach that server.
  • Advertising. See the next section.

Advertising and cookies

This site may show ads served by Google AdSense or similar advertising partners. If ads are shown, these partners may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see an ad and, depending on your location and choices, personalize ads. We do not receive your personal information from this process.

Where the law requires it, such as in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, ads that use cookies or personal data are shown only after you give consent through a consent notice. You can usually change your choice from that notice. You can also manage personalized advertising through Google's ad settings, and learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services on Google's partner sites page. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies, although some features of other sites may stop working.

If no ads are shown on the site at the moment, none of the advertising processing described here takes place.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data held about you, such as the right to ask what is held, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing or to withdraw consent. Because we do not keep accounts or collect personal details through the instruments, there is little data for us to hold, but you can contact us with any request and we will do our best to help. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The site is a general music site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, contact us and we will look into it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS where your hosting is set up for it, which protects data in transit between your browser and the server. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to other websites, including the main ToolShore site. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example if we add a service or change how ads are shown. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Please check it from time to time.
